Fortuna Sittard secures hard-fought win against Cambuur
Fortuna Sittard has followed up the surprising 2-2 draw against PSV last week with a home win against promoted SC Cambuur. However, it wasn't a convincing performance from the Limburgers, who secured a 3-1 victory. Cambuur had a tough return to the Eredivisie last week, losing 4-0 at home to Excelsior. The visitors were not given a warm welcome in Sittard, taking a 2-0 lead after just a quarter of an hour. In the sixth minute, goalkeeper Thijs Jansen was just able to get his hands on a shot from Ole Romeny, but the rebound from Mohamed Ihattaren's corner was headed in by Philip Brittijn to make it 1-0. And in a counter-attack, Lequincio Zeefuik beat two defenders to double the margin. A new onslaught seemed to be looming, but Cambuur steadied the ship and equalized halfway through the first half. Set up by Nicky Souren, Rafik El Arguioui beat Justin Hubner and Jasper Dahlhaus, before outsmarting Mattijs Branderhorst to make it 2-1. The goalkeeper was then ready for a header from Sami Bouhoudane.
